Get Ready for Convention 2001 - Tampa

Convention 2001.

We are preparing for the next triennial convention. This year it is going to be held at Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa, Florida from June 22 to 25. The quoted rate that I have heard is $95 per night with a $6 resort fee. More information should be coming out in the next Triangle magazine.

We have an exciting schedule planned for this Spring. If you have yet to make a meeting, please try and attend at least one this Spring. You don't know what you are missing. Take a look at what activities were enjoyed this past Fall and then mark your calendars for some fantastic meetings planned this Spring!

September 16 - FIU BID Day.

We joined FIU Zeta Epsilon for their BID day. It was really fun and very exciting. Lynn University (Eta Eta) was also there to give their support. It was a successful Rush for both Zeta Epsilon and Eta Eta this past Fall.

October 14th - Broward Partnership for the Homeless

For our October meeting, we met at the Broward Partnership for the Homeless Center. This was our third time we have met here. Linda brought some puzzles for the kids to play with and that is what we did the whole time at the Center. It was as challenging as it was fun. Afterwards, we ate lunch at Fuddruckers. As you all know, we have adopted this Center as our local Philanthropy and have donated at least 100 books. See February for our next activity with the Center.

For anyone who is interested in volunteering at the Center on an individual basis, the Volunteer Orientations for new and interested volunteers are scheduled for: Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30 PM and Saturday, March 17th at 10:00 AM.

Linda and the kids putting a puzzle together at the Center with Chris too!

November 4th - Applebee's

Due to expected low to no turn out, this meeting was canceled.

December 9th - Third Annual Holiday Brunch

Our Third Annual Holiday Brunch was held at Chris Quackenbush's house in Dania. We had a nice turn out and lots of good food!!! We prepared Holiday Care Packages for the Zeta Epsilon and Eta Eta Chapters plus everyone brought some craft accessories to be donated to the two Robbie Page memorial rooms at the hospitals in Dallas and Chapel Hill.

Web Site

Please visit our web site for information on future meetings and on our past meetings, Newsletters, activities, etc. (http://sigma3sofla.tripod.com). I haven't been able to keep it up to date as much as I would like but it will be updated by the time you receive this Newsletter. Also, make sure you visit the Official Sigma Sigma Sigma web site at http://www.sigmasigmasigma.org. The site has a place where you can look up any Sigma. It is called "Ever Forward." You need your Membership number which is on the address label of the Triangle. It is really neat. Find a Sigma you miss from College or one who may have lost touch.

I hope everyone had a very happy and safe holiday season.
We hope to see you all at one of our events this Spring!
